Terms of service
Last updated 31 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Shakefree.io ("we", "us") for the use of Shakefree at shakefree.io. By using Shakefree you accept them. If you use Shakefree for a company, you accept them for that company.
The service
Shakefree finds the chaotic camera shake that stabilizers cannot fix. Your browser reads your video and extracts its motion data. Our server detects the shakes in that data. The app shows them on a timeline and builds the export in your browser:
- Premiere Pro (FCP7 XML),
- DaVinci Resolve (XML, EDL and CSV),
- Final Cut Pro (FCPXML).
You can also open a Premiere, Resolve or Final Cut project and get it back with the shakes cut. Shakefree needs a current desktop browser and an internet connection. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
The free plan
You can scan without signing up. The free plan shows every shake on the timeline, with the export locked. Its limits:
- a set number of minutes of video in any 24 hours, per browser,
- a set length per clip,
- a shared limit per network for browsers without an account.
Entering your email gives you a free account with its own free minutes. We may change the free limits. The app always shows the ones that apply to you.
The paid plans
Both paid plans unlock the export and the exact in and out points of every shake.
3-hour pack, $15 once
3 hours of video to scan. The pack never expires. Minutes are taken from it when a clip is scanned, by the clip's length rounded up to the whole second. Scanning the same clip again with other settings is not charged a second time. A video used in a project is scanned and charged by its full length, once, however many times the project uses it. You can buy another pack whenever you like and the hours add up.
Shakefree Unlimited, $15 a month
Unlimited scanning while the subscription runs. It renews every month on the date you subscribed, until you cancel. Unlimited is subject to fair use: up to 100 hours of video a month is always fine. Above that we may warn you and then slow scanning down for the rest of the month. We do not stop it.
Upgrading a 3-hour pack to monthly
When a 3-hour pack you bought has 20 minutes or less left, you can upgrade it to the monthly plan with the first month free. The pack paid for that month, so nothing is charged when you upgrade. The minutes left on the pack are used up by the upgrade and do not come back, also if you cancel. From the end of the free month the monthly plan renews at its price, until you cancel. The offer ends when the pack runs out, applies to a pack you paid for (not to hours from a promo code), and can be taken once per pack. The FAQ explains it step by step.
Prices are in US dollars. Where we have to charge sales tax or VAT, the checkout shows it before you pay.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card is saved with Stripe for one-click purchases, and a monthly subscription is charged to it at each renewal. If a renewal fails, Stripe retries the card and we may pause the export until the payment goes through. You can remove the card and see your invoices in Manage billing in Settings.
Refunds
If a 3-hour pack has not been used, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of the purchase. Refunds after that, or for a used pack or a monthly period, are at our discretion. A pack upgraded to the monthly plan counts as used. Ask on the support page. This does not limit any right to a refund that the law gives you.
Cancellation
You can cancel the monthly plan at any time in Settings, under Manage billing. You keep unlimited scanning until the end of the period you paid for. Then the account returns to the free plan. We do not refund the rest of a period you cancel. Cancel during the free month of a pack upgrade and nothing is charged: unlimited runs to the end of the free month.
Deleting your account cancels a running subscription at once, without a refund for the rest of the period, and unused pack time is lost.
Accounts
An account is created when you buy, or when you unlock free minutes with your email. You sign in with a link sent to your email, with Google, or with a password if you set one. Keep access to your email safe, since it signs you in. One account is for one person. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- get more free minutes than the free plan gives, for example with several browsers, accounts or networks,
- share your account, resell access to Shakefree or offer its detection as a service to others,
- work around the plan limits, the export lock or the fair use limit,
- copy, decompile or reverse engineer the app or the detection engine, except where the law allows it,
- overload, probe or attack the service, or scan it with automated tools,
- use Shakefree for anything unlawful.
We may block a browser, a network or an account that breaks these rules. If we close a paid account without a breach on your side, we refund the unused part.
Your videos and projects
Your videos, projects and exports stay yours. You give us the right to process the data the app sends, only to provide the service. If you share a video with a problem report, you confirm you may share it, and we use it only to reproduce the problem.
Our software
The app, the detection engine and this site belong to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them while these terms apply. We may update the service and change its features at any time. Keep the app open in a current browser to get the fixes.
The detection is advisory
Shakefree finds shakes automatically. It can miss a shake, or mark footage that looks fine to you. Review the result before you deliver. You keep the responsibility for your cut, your projects and the files you export. Keep a copy of a project before you save over it.
No warranty
We work to keep Shakefree available and accurate, but we provide it as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Advice from us does not create a warranty. Rights that the law gives consumers and that cannot be excluded remain.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Shakefree is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, such as lost profit, lost data, a missed deadline or an interrupted business. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
Governing law
Shakefree.io is run by a private company in British Columbia, Canada. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of British Columbia decide any dispute. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the law where you live.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms we update the date at the top. We tell account holders about an important change by email before it applies. If you keep using Shakefree after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
